  • Summer Orchestra

    Summer Orchestra will have a variety of opportunities for Students entering 4th- 9th grade. Please note Summer Orchestra registration dates vary and classes will not appear for registration below until the day they open.
  • Middle School Orchestra Camp - Entering Grades 7 & 8

    Middle school students in grades 6-7 who are currently playing in orchestra can register for the middle school orchestra camp. This one-week camp will meet Monday, July 8-July 11 from 12:30-3 P.M. each day. Students will work in small groups, large groups and explore a variety of musical styles. Students will practice at Chippewa Middle School.
  • Symphony Orchestra Camp - Entering Grades 8 & 9

    Mounds View summer music is offering the opportunity to be in a Symphony orchestra led by Brian Larson, Chippewa orchestra director as well as a director with GTCYS (Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies). A Symphony orchestra combines a traditional string orchestra (violin, viola, cello, and bass) with flutes, clarinets, bass clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and percussion. This four day camp will explore a variety of music from pop to classical. The week will include large group rehearsals, sectionals, and other fun activities. The last day will wrap up with a concert for family and friends! To have a balanced ensemble experience, section sizes are limited. Sign up while you still can!   • Summer Orchestra Grade 5

    This class is for current orchestra students who are entering 5th grade in 2022-2023. Classes will meet Mondays -Thursdays for approximately 50 minutes each day, with additional time for set-up and tuning. All locations and lesson formats (in-person or virtual) will use the same curriculum and you may register for any site. Students will have the opportunity to perform the national anthem at a Twins game on Target Field (Location and time TBD) The final concert will take place on July 31, 6:30 p.m. at Irondale High School. Session/Location waiting lists information: Please note that if your first choice is not available, you should register and pay for a second choice session in addition to joining the waitlist for your first choice. We cannot guarantee that a space will open in your first choice class. If a spot in your first choice session becomes available, Community Education will reach out to you to confirm if you would like to switch the lesson times. Youth Scholarship/Financial Aid: Youth who are residing within the Mounds View Public Schools boundaries and currently qualify for educational benefits/free/reduced lunch may be eligible for partial scholarships to qualifying Enrichment & Activities programs. Financial support is provided by the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf, District Community Education Scholarship fund and other community donors. Qualifying Enrichment and Activities will have a Financial Support/Educational Benefits fee rate that is 50% of the full fee for the program.   • 5th Grade Summer Orchestra

  • Beginning Band Trombone

    Beginning Band is designed for students going into 5th grade-8th grade with NO previous experience on a band instrument. The summer band program offers students an opportunity to start their learning of a band instrument with frequent instruction and small classes. Delivered in a series of 45-minute lessons spanning four weeks, students receive personalized instruction in a small-group setting. At the end of the program, students perform their first band concert. Registration for Valleyfair Performance Field trip will occur at a different date. Rental: District instrument rental is available based on student need as identified by their Band Director. Students who play French Horn, Baritone or Tuba are encouraged to rent 2 instruments from school (one stays at home, one stays at school). Other school instruments may be available for rental for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch. The rental fee covers the summer and a full year of school. Band director's approval required as supplies last. Youth Scholarship/Financial Aid: Youth who are residing within the Mounds View Public Schools boundaries and currently qualify for educational benefits/free/reduced lunch may be eligible for partial scholarships to qualifying Enrichment & Activities programs.   • Summer Orchestra Grade 4 (Cello)

    This section of Summer Orchestra is for students entering 4th grade (or 5th grade) who will be starting the CELLO. Classes will meet Monday through Thursday for approximately 50 minutes, with additional time for set-up and tuning. All locations will use the same curriculum and you may register for any site. The final concert will take place on July 31, 6:30 p.m. at Irondale High School. Session/Location waiting lists information: Please note that if your first choice is not available, you should register and pay for a second choice session in addition to joining the waitlist for your first choice. We cannot guarantee that a space will open in your first choice class. If a spot in your first choice session becomes available, Community Education will reach out to you to confirm if you would like to switch the lesson times. Classes will meet Monday through Thursday for approximately 50 minutes, with additional time for set-up and tuning. All locations will use the same curriculum and you may register for any site. Participants can sign up for any section time or location that works best for them. Please note: Beginning Orchestra enrollment will open Feb 21 at 9am. Sections will not be visible searchable until that time. For students who are currently playing in fifth grade orchestra offers students the opportunity to advance skills and explore a variety of music. Classes will be offered in the morning an evening.
