  • Engineering: Rube Goldberg Machines

    Chain reactions! Design and build amazing moving machines and teach our Lego bricks new tricks! With an active imagination as your guide, there are endless possibilities. Students working in pairs will learn about physics and engineering concepts such as Velocity, Projectiles, Trajectories, Force, Motion, and more. Every day students will learn new ways to combine Legos to cause different chain reactions and, on the last day, design their own Rube Goldberg Machine, film editing basics and how to use Hollywood-style special effects techniques. Possible special effects learned in the class include Star Wars animated lasers, Harry Potter spell-like effects, and other blockbuster effects. Groups' final projects will be emailed to parents, or students may bring a USB jump drive on the last day. Student photography releases must be signed for this class. Presented by Tech Academy.     DASH Sports Floor Hockey Tykes camps provide little athletes an introductory hockey experience covering a broad range of skills training and skill-based games. Players will be taught how to properly stickhandle, pass, and shoot in a fun and positive environment. Athletes should bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing & shoes. Sticks and pucks are provided. Parent participation is required for the 2-3yr old age group and recommended when needed for the 4+ year old age group.     Full-Day Multi Sport Camp

    Summer Multi-Sport (Full Day):DASH Sports summer Multi-Sports camp includes fun skills training and games in three sports: Soccer, Basketball, and Flag Football. Athletes will spend roughly 1.5 hours learning and practicing each sport per day. Key sports skills will be taught and practiced in all 3 sports including: dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and more! Also included daily are fun games such as Dodgeball, Capture the Flag, Kickball, and more! Camp ends with games/scrimmages the final day for each sport, where athletes can showcase their skills.     Participate in direct skills training from Irondale High School’s coaching staff & current student athletes. These sessions will be focused on developing the overall skill level of each athlete emphasizing passing, dribbling, offensive and defensive footwork and shooting technique. Participation in sports can, and will, teach young athletes decision-making, commitment, work ethic, discipline and strong work habits. The coaches & players will provide a positive atmosphere where each athlete can fully develop. A camp T-shirt is included in the price of the camp.

  • Growing & Cooking with the Sun

    The sun is your best friend if you know how to use it! This class teaches how to cook with just the sun. Solar cooking bypasses traditional cooking means. No electricity, gas, charcoal, or wood needed for solar cooking. Students will learn how to cook meals, dry food for preservation, and purify water all with the sun.
