Clay-To-Go Handbuilding

It’s time to get your hands dirty and turn your imagination into a forever creation! Learn hand building and techniques such as pinch construction, slab work, coils and more. Students will create their own version of the project, perhaps a functional bowl, cup, plate, and/ or sculptural fantastical creatures, imaginary scenes, decor and more. In addition, they have the chance to paint their projects with fun bright colors. Presented by Northern Clay Center. Hack into the code of classic games! Students will learn Java coding skills while modifying games such as Asteroids, Tetris, Snake, and more! Coding beginners and more experienced students will love this class. This fun class is our staff and students' favorite codling class. Engineering: Rube Goldberg Machines

Chain reactions! Design and build amazing moving machines and teach our Lego bricks new tricks! With an active imagination as your guide, there are endless possibilities. Students working in pairs will learn about physics and engineering concepts such as Velocity, Projectiles, Trajectories, Force, Motion, and more. Every day students will learn new ways to combine Legos to cause different chain reactions and, on the last day, design their own Rube Goldberg Machine, film editing basics and how to use Hollywood-style special effects techniques. Possible special effects learned in the class include Star Wars animated lasers, Harry Potter spell-like effects, and other blockbuster effects. Groups' final projects will be emailed to parents, or students may bring a USB jump drive on the last day. Student photography releases must be signed for this class. Presented by Tech Academy. Extreme Robotics: Battlebots

This camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO® building system's versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 (the most sophisticated microcomputer brick ever made by LEGO®). Working each day in teams, students will construct fun LEGO® models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each day's activities. The final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Flag Football - Coed

Intramural Flag football is coed and all students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to participate. The game of flag football is a fast-paced, non-contact game played between teams of seven players. Each player on the offense and defense wears a set of flags. "Tackles" are made by pulling the flag out of the belt. All physical contact is strictly monitored for the safety of the players. Activities will not meet on non-school days. Acitvity buses are avaialble after practice for eligible students. Game day busing will bring all participants to host school departing at 2:35pm and return remaining students to their home school ONLY by 5:30pm. Practices are Tuesday & Thursday from 2:30-3:40pm; Games are between 3:00-5:00pm on 5/7 at Edgewood Middle School and 5/21 at Chippewa Middle School (tentative game schedule) Bring a water bottle and running shoes. Flag Football - Grades 6-9

Flag Football camps provide players with a well-rounded football experience in a little to no contact safe environment. Key elements of passing, catching, rushing, and defense will be taught and practiced daily, and players will be grouped and challenged at an appropriate level in a fun, positive environment while learning values of ‘Respect, Hustle, and Pride’.
