    K-6 Summer Day Camps at Turtle Lake Join us for eight weeks of summer day camps in 2024 including both full-day and half-day options for students entering grades K-6. With new instructors, new topics and one centralized camp site, students will be able to try new things, meet new people and grow. Daily schedule: Drop-off 8 - 9 a.m. Morning camp 9 a.m. - noon Lunch Bunch noon - 1 p.m. (extra $10 per week) Afternoon camp 1 - 4 p.m. Pick-up 4 - 5 p.m. CAMP REGISTRATION Registration opens March 25 at 9 a.m. Register at mvpschools.org/RegisterCommunityEd MORNING AND AFTERNOON CARE Reduce some summer stress with our extended morning drop-off hour and afternoon pick-up hour included in your summer camp registration! LUNCH BUNCH Create a full day of fun with the Lunch Bunch program. For families looking for full-day options, the Lunch Bunch program is a perfect way to connect morning and afternoon camps. Lunch Bunch provides a supervised lunch hour and playground time. Students are required to bring their own lunch. Registration is in addition to camp registration, and the cost is $10 per week. Lunch Bunch is required for all participants enrolled in both morning and afternoon sessions. FIELD TRIP FRIDAYS Experience high-quality supervision and a new field trip destination every Friday with our Field Trip Fridays! Field trips are $65 per field trip and require students to bring a bag lunch. Drop-off is at Turtle Lake Elementary School from 8 - 9 a.m. with pick-up from 4:30 - 5 p.m. CHECK-IN AND EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION We look forward to making sure participants have a great time this summer and are safe while in our care. We ask that you help us by following the guidelines below: • K-6 summer day camp participants enrolled in day camps at Turtle Lake will be checked in and out of the camp by a parent/guardian or caregiver unless otherwise noted. Be prepared to show a photo ID. • Please make sure that your emergency contact information is current and any accommodation/medical needs are included in your child’s registration. • Please complete your camper information form when it is emailed to you in April. With an array of engaging topics and a two rotating middle school sites, this summer promises opportunities for exploration, new connections, and personal development. Dive into a summer of excitement and growth tailored for students in grades 6 and beyond!   • Symphony Orchestra Camp - Entering Grades 8 & 9

    Mounds View summer music is offering the opportunity to be in a Symphony orchestra led by Brian Larson, Chippewa orchestra director as well as a director with GTCYS (Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies). A Symphony orchestra combines a traditional string orchestra (violin, viola, cello, and bass) with flutes, clarinets, bass clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and percussion. This four day camp will explore a variety of music from pop to classical. The week will include large group rehearsals, sectionals, and other fun activities. The last day will wrap up with a concert for family and friends! To have a balanced ensemble experience, section sizes are limited. Sign up while you still can!   • Turtle Lake Twins Game

    Turtle Lake families and staff are invited to attend a Minnesota Twins game (verses the Kansas City Royals). The Turtle Lake Choir will be performing the National Anthem prior to the game. Let's all take this great opportunity for our community to get together outside of the classroom, have fun, meet other Turtle Lake school families, and cheer for the Minnesota Twins and our choir! Wednesday, May 29th at 6:40pm Target Field (transportation not provided) NOTE: There is an extremely high demand for tickets to this game and the number of seats allocated to Turtle Lake school is limited. ALL PERFORMERS and guests will need to purchase a ticket. When purchasing a ticket, select the Name of your Turtle Lake student. You will enter the QUANTITY OF TICKETS needed in your cart before checkout.
  • Valley Fair Band Performance Field Trip

    Summer band participants will have the option to go to Valleyfair on Friday, August 2, 2024 to perform and spend the day exploring. Students are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Interested parents can apply to chaperone this event. Look for more info to come from your band instructors Deadline to register is Friday, July 19, 2024 Final timelines will be shared with families prior to this trip during the course of summer. Friends and family that are interested in spectating will have an opportunity to purchase discounted tickets at a later date. WHAT: Summer Band students will perform at the park in the morning and get to spend the rest of the day enjoying the rides. WHEN: Fri. Aug. 2. Students will meet at 9:00 AM to load the buses (location TBD). The concert will take place around 10:30. Buses will leave the park at 4:30 and return around 5:15. WHERE: Buses will park near the Steele Venom entrance. The concert will take place at the Midway Stage. HOW: Students must bring their instrument, music and wear the Summer Band T-shirt. (Trailers will be available for larger instruments and percussion equipment.) COST: $70 covers the cost of student admission, buses and staff fees. If your student has a Valleyfair Pass, please contact Community Ed. directly to get an adjusted rate. CHAPERONES: Parents can volunteer to chaperone for the day- look for a survey to complete in June if interested. GROUPS: Students will walk around the park in groups. 5th graders will have a chaperone with them throughout the day. We will create groups after we perform. TRANSPORTATION: Band students registered for this event are required to take the bus both to and from the park- no exceptions. If parents would like to provide their own transportation, you may wish to purchase admission for your student on your own as well (there would be no need to register for this event). Band students can meet up with us for the concert. LUNCH: Band students will have time for lunch after the concert. Students may purchase lunch at the park or bring their own lunch to eat at the buses before returning to the park. MONEY: Valleyfair is cashless. We recommend getting a gift card ahead of time that can be used in the park.
