    Elementary Chess Club

    Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, join this club to meet and interact with other chess players in your school and play on a weekly basis. Players will learn the basic rules and strategies of chess if they are new to the game. Presented by CSGA Enrichment.     Our artist and naturalist will bring many tools and gadgets so youth can explore, play, learn, and create art with light. Bend light, cast rainbows, shoot a trick photograph, or warp space.   • Fall Youth Wrestling

    The youth wrestling program is designed to be an introductory wrestling program for elementary students. The program will focus on teaching kids the basic fundamental skills, techniques, and rules of wrestling through fun games and activities. Participants will also be able to compete in an end-of-the-season in-house tournament.

  • Turtle Lake 4th & 5th Grade Choirs

    Do you love to sing? Students entering 4th and 5th grade have the opportunity to join choir with Ms. Crockett. Choir is a before school activity held once a week. Fourth grade choir meets on Thursdays from 8:05-9:05. Fifth grade choir meets on Tuesdays from 8:05-9:05. Students do not need to audition for choir. The Turtle Lake choirs perform a winter concert in January and a spring concert in April , as well as a few other performances throughout the year.   • Transportation Machines – e2 Young Engineers

    In the October session, your child will learn about transmissions, Power and Speed Gears and Elastic energy. During the class, they will build independently or in pairs working robotic models of Jeep SUV, Cable Car, Forklift and Unloading truck. e2 Young Engineers offers an internationally acclaimed Robotics and STEM education program taught in 50+ countries. This program is recognized by Harvard School of Education and European Union as leaders in robotics and science education in the world. This is a problem and project-based learning program where students learns about new Robotics and STEM concepts in every class and applies those concepts by building unique and different operational robots and machines in every class.     Can't stop singing We Don't Talk About Bruno?? We can't either!! Come join Mirabel, Isabella, Antonio and the rest of the Madrigals as we create magical projects inspired by the hit Disney movie Encanto.     Calling all creative kids! This is the perfect class to hone both your artistic side and your puzzle-solving skills. Just like on the popular TV show Nailed It!, we’ll show you a final product and give you all the goods needed to recreate it. The rest is up to you! Your challenges will include creating a unicorn cake sculpture that looks good enough to eat, painting a fox at sunset, a llama with a flower crown, and so much more. We can’t wait to see if you can nail it! This is Nailed It!, Kidcreate-style, so instead of baking, we’ll be sculpting, painting, collaging, and more!     Learn to create an interactive 2D video game using your favorite characters. Choose characters from Undertale, Pokémon, Nintendo, Minecraft, and even classic characters like Donkey Kong and Mario! In the first class, we will learn to use Scratch and in the final session, students will create a maze game and pick which main character to use. Presented by Tech Academy.     The Irondale Volleyball team will be hosting a Volleyball clinic open to all students in grades 2-8 The clinic will be conducted by the Irondale Volleyball Team who will be on hand to provide tips on volleyball skills and what it is like to be a high school athlete. Clinic participants will be able to spend time in each of the following areas: Passing Serving Tipping Setting Digging Blocking Hitting Area Games Footwork Dynamic warm-up Strength and Conditioning T-shirts and a light lunch will be provided for each participant
  • Beginner/Intro to Archery

    During this class students will learn the fundamental skills of archery, providing great opportunities for awarding achievement, and helps archers to enjoy the sport recreationally or progress to the excitement of competition. Equipment is provided, feel free to bring your own if you have it.
  • Mounds View Performance Youth Dance Clinic

    Do you love to dance? Are you excited about performing in front of a crowd? Do you want to show your school spirit? The Mounds View dance clinic is an exciting opportunity to learn and perform a dance routine choreographed by the The Mounds View Performance Team (MVPT). Parents and spectators are invited to see the dancers perform the routines they learned. This is a special opportunity to let families focus on their dancer, to bring additional guests and to have unlimited photo opportunities on the field. Clinic registrants will learn about the Mounds View dance team, as well as receive dance instruction and time to practice the choreographed routines. It is a fun, social time to spend with others interested in dance. Check in is from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Clinic will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00pm. Parents and spectators are invited to return to the MVHS stadium at 1 pm the day of the clinic to see the dancers perform the routines they learned as well as see performances by the MVPT. Clinic participants should wear shorts/leggings and dance, jazz, or tennis shoes. Clinic t-shirt will be provided at check in. Bring a bag lunch and a water bottle. Please bring cash if interested in purchasing concessions at the field show.     What could be better on a day off of school than a day of ninja fun?!     This is your child’s chance to paint on a real canvas board. During this guided painting lesson, your child will create a Halloween scene featuring a spooky, swirly, starry night sky that glows in the dark!   • Youth Karate

    Karate can help students of all ages build stamina, strength, coordination, and confidence. Our goal is to improve our karate through repetition, concentration, and self awareness. This strengthens the connection between our mind and our body as we explore stances, blocks, punches and kicks. We will work on these techniques as part of individual training (kihon) as well as partner work (kumite). In addition, we will introduce the first Katas, which help us develop a better understanding of how karate can be applied.

  • Adventures in 3D Printing and Design

    Challenge your creativity by designing 3D objects and then print your designs. Learn about scale when prototyping a design that is not at full-size. Also design an object that is at functional scale and usable! We will be using 3D printers and CAD software. Design challenges will be based on student experience if they have used the equipment and software previously. Past projects have included model rocket parts, game pieces, tools for LEGO mini figures and so much more! Presented by CSGA Enrichment.     Calling new and returning students! The Engineering For Kids Junior STEM club introduces students to a new, hands on lesson every week from various engineering disciplines. Students focus on developing 21st century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration. These life skills provide students with the confidence to approach challenges in their lives and realize that they can succeed in almost anything!   • Pre-Karate

    Provide your child with a chance to explore beginner karate in a small low-key group. The class will focus on the fundamentals of learning Shotokan karate, which are our stances, with punching, kicking, and blocking techniques. We also do fun activities to stay engaged, and work on our ability to balance, concentrate, and work together with partners. Students will learn some Japanese customs and words that we use as part of our training.
  • Game Coding: Super Mario

    In this class, we introduce programming concepts using Scratch. Scratch is a drag-and-drop creative coding platform developed by MIT. Students will be instructed to make a Mario Kart-style game and pick custom characters to customize their games.
