  • Elementary Drawing: Monthly- On Demand Art Class

    Back-to-school is different for many families and YR is serving drawing classes online! Get a few minutes to yourself while your kids enjoy the awesome artwork happening this fall. Appetites don’t stand a chance against the realistic Pizza our students will create. Watch out for our adorable Baby Sloth, the cutest character we’ll be drawing all month, and we can’t forget to celebrate the fall season with one of our favorite art history portraits, Hiawatha.   • Online Chess Club - Middle School

    Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, join this online club to interact with other district chess players online. Learn how chess is played online and play on a weekly basis to improve your skills. Join the group for pool play during the scheduled meeting times. In between Pool Play meetings,there are opportunities for small group lessons and lots of tools to analyze and improve your game. In addition to Standard Chess, there are other cool variations like Anti-Chess, CrazyHouse, & Atomic to name just a few. New Format: Online Chess will be available in a open play format for all students from 6:45-7:40 a.m. or the start of their school day Monday-Thursday. Chess participants will be able to login anytime within the window for Open pool Play of Mondays and Wednesdays and for instructional time on Tuesday and Thursdays. Chess participants can play one session a week or up to four sessions a week. Please note participants are not allowed to be online during their scheduled school day. If a participant violates this they will be removed from the program without refund. Materials and Equipment: Students will need a method of accessing the internet during meetings. Video & Audio are required for lesson formats, but are optional for Pool Play.

  • Multiplayer Minecraft: Map Builder

    Work as a team to create a custom multiplayer adventure map. Choose to design an in-game dungeon or build a castle to explore. Together, use command blocks to create the world! Learn the internal language of Minecraft and use it on yourself and others in a multiplayer server. Teleport, trap, and prank each other using a variety of different commands and command block types. Students will get a copy of the world to continue development. Additional Technical Requirement: Minecraft Java Edition -Additional purchase $26.95, not included in class cost.   • Let’s Draw, Paint & Sculpt Virtual Art Class

    You asked for it, so here it is—a camp with all that art has to offer and more! Your child will love experimenting with many different materials while learning lots of new techniques. We’ll learn to draw a wacky Llama, and we’ll sculpt and paint a box full of delicious-looking donuts. We’ll even create one of our most popular projects—a snow globe! Parents, you’ll need to make space on the fridge and the mantle for these amazing works of art!
  • Art Academy Virtual Art Class

    Does your child love art? Painting, drawing, clay- it’s all awesome! We will experiment with many techniques, materials, and styles as we make snow globes, paint on canvas, create clay characters and more. Come ready to have an artsy good time in this highly anticipated class!
  • Virtual Introduction to App Development - Level 1 Beginner

    App development has increased manifold in the past 5 years due to lower costs and easier access to essential tools, so give your engineer the knowledge to stay ahead in today’s technological society. We’re offering a unique experience in which students get to code, test, and create their own apps in real-time using an easy-to-understand format. The best part about this program is that they’ll be able to save their created apps right to their (or your own) devices for play anywhere, anytime!
  • Lego STEM Club

    Do you love Lego’s? I do! You don’t need anything except your imagination and a bucket of Legos. In this club we will google meet together and create anything you want following directions or just playing with bricks! If you share a love for Legos this is a club for you. Materials/Equipment needed: Students will need internet and access to a device to connect to google meets. Students will need to provide their own Legos to build with.
  • Model Rocketry design with Tinkercad

    Learn to build a rocket online and then launch it outside at a class launch site. Your rocket will include common materials that could be found in a recycling bin or a kit purchased on your own. Multiple design, building, and recovery techniques will be discussed. Home built rockets are cheap to make so it removes the anxiety of “doing it wrong”! Build it and see what happens, within the rules of model rocketry. A curbside rocket kit with starter supplies to complete one rocket is included in the fee. If you already have experience, try designing using TinkerCAD software and adjust your center of gravity and center of pressure to predict stable flight. A “distancing” rocket launch with one engine will be scheduled for the participants. Materials and Equipment: Students will need a method of accessing the internet during meetings. Audio & Video will be required to learn.
  • 3D Printing: Wearables

    Students will be learning the ropes of 3D modeling and printing using CAD software (computer-aided design). Lessons will begin with creating basic shapes and progressing to using more complex tools to create a basic ring, wrist band/bracelet, pendant, and more that they can make their own. Their teacher-approved designs that fit within the given parameters will be printed for them and dropped off at Community Ed a week after the class ends. Classes will be taught LIVE by one of our EFK teachers via a district-approved platform.
  • Online Stock Market club

    Learn how the stock market works by analyzing real time data and trades using a stock market simulator. You actually will make simulated trades from your portfolios! Create 3 portfolios with different criteria. Learn about IPOs and track their progress. How does the stock market actually affect all of us and none of us at the same time. We will also play other online stock market business games. Supply and Demand at its best and worst!
  • Art With Out Noise (W.O.N.) - Online

    This class is for students who prefer a calm setting to create art. Some students want some basic “studio time” without the content requirements of “art class”. Here they can explore their own ideas with an expert standing by to help as needed. The goal of the class is to help students grow as artists. Presented by Tammy Nara.   • Future Chefs! Fried Rice - Online Interactive Class!

    Online Class! New Class! Gr. 1-5. In this class chef Jessica will “wok” you through how to make a delicious vegetable fried rice. It’s all about the sauce…the sauce… You will make a batch of white rice ahead of time to let it slightly harden and then during class we will focus on chopping the veggies, making the sauce, scrambling the eggs and using a hot wok! Whoa Fun! Join us and register today! Ingredient List - Will be emailed out 1 week prior to the class.   • Game Coding: Star Wars - One Day Workshop!

    Make Star Wars-themed video games. Create several working 2D games and animations using popular Star Wars sprites. With time remaining, students will be challenged to modify or improve the games created in class using Scratch (free web app). Students will be sent home with additional challenges and activities to continue coding after class.

    Calling new and returning students! The Engineering For Kids STEM Club is now going virtual! Each class introduces students to a new, hands-on, lesson featuring STEM topics. For each lesson, students focus on developing 21st Century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration. These life skills provide students with the confidence to approach challenges in their lives and realize that they can succeed in almost anything!     Ever want to learn how to knit? Come explore a craft that is fun and interesting. With materials provided,(curbside pick up) students will learn basic knitting and crocheting skills via ZOOM each week. They will create a project of their choice. Students will receive an email with a survey of color and choice of yarn and materials pick up options. Materials and Equipment: Students will need a method of accessing the internet during meetings. Audio & Video will be required to learn. Students will need to have their project materials with them for each meetings

  • Game Coding: Super Mario One Day Workshop!

    This course will give you hands-on experience developing your own game using Scratch 3, a visual coding platform. Students will learn how to think like programmers and learn coding concepts while creating a 2-dimensional, arcade-style Super Mario Bros.-themed game. The first part of the class will be instructor-led; with the time remaining, students will have the opportunity to customize their games using Scratch (free web app). Students will be sent home with additional challenges and activities to continue coding after class.
  • Game Coding: Platformer

    Create an arcade-style, side-scrolling platformer! Students will learn to create a web-based platformer using Construct 3, a visual coding platform that teaches students the basics and structure of programming. Create custom enemies, obstacles, and challenges in this exciting class.
  • Multiplayer Minecraft: Mini Game Builder New!

    Become the architect of three mini-game battle arenas! Build your own spleef arena, capture the flag base, and king of the hill stadium, then challenge your friends! Battle it out in spleef, plan your base in capture the flag, and have a snowball fight in king of the hill! Students will get a copy of the world map to take home and expand on.
